Having spent many years single and many years married, I understand that holidays in general, and Valentine’s Day in particular, can be stressful, even under the best of circumstances. Factor in our global pandemic, and it becomes even more so, when you really aren’t supposed to leave the house.
With this in mind, on February 13 and 14, I rolled out a free download promotion, allowing anyone who wanted, to download Another Fairy Bastard. I expected a few hundred downloads, but was shocked when that number turned into thousands. If my book was able to take some of the stress out of that weekend, and let people while away the hours with a silly smile on their face as they wandered through the corridors of my mind, as transcribed onto the pages of my book, I could not be happier.
I received more thank you’s than I could count, and it took weeks to get that silly smile off my face.
For those of you who are not familiar with Amazon author rankings, they rate authors on paid sales and free downloads. Either way you are competing with tens of thousands of other authors…
On the weekend in question, I was happy and humbled to find that I hit:
#1 in Amazon’s rankings for free books in the United States i Kindle Store in Contemporary Literary Fiction, Fairy Tale Fantasy, and Superhero Fantasy eBooks.
#2 in Mythology (based fiction) and #3 in Urban Fantasy in Canada,
#1 in Superhero Fantasy eBooks, #2 in Celtic, English and Welsh (based) Myths and Legends, #3 in Metaphysical Fantasy eBooks in the UK
#2 in Urban Fantasy in Australia.
#1 in Fairy Tales (English) and #2 in Metaphysical Fiction in Germany.
#1 in Mythology Ebooks, and #1 Mythology Books, and #11 Fantasy in English Ebooks in a particularly romantic European Nation.
And last but not least #7 in 2 distinct categories in the Netherlands.
Thank you all so much for your help, kind words and support.
